Some History Makers of The 2022 Midterm Elections

Congratulations to some of those who recently made history in the 2022 Midterm elections held earlier this month. It is November 11th when I am writing this article. Some of the results still haven’t come in. We do know this so far. California: Democrat Alex Padilla will be the first elected Latino Senator from that state. Democrat Shirley Weber will be the 1st Black Secretary of State. Democrat Rob Bonta will be the 1st Filipino-American to serve as Attorney General and Democrat Robert Garcia will be the 1st out LGBTQ immigrant elected to Congress.

Colorado: Democrat Yadiro Caraseo will be the 1st Latina elected to Congress.

Connecticut: Democrat Stephanie Thomas will be the 1st Black woman elected Secretary of State.

Florida: Democrat Maxwell Foster will be the 1st member of Generation Z elected to Congress. Mr. Frost describes himself as more than an ally to the LGBTQ community, but more as a “partner.” Mr. Foster was previously an uber driver. I’m sure Republikkkans will poke fun at him as they did Rep. Alexandria Ocasio-Cortez’s previous employment as a bartender. Mr. Foster will be a refreshing young voice in a sea of some close-minded Baby Boomers.

Illinois: Delia Ramirez will be the 1st Latina elected to Congress from that state. Democrat Eric Sorensen will be the 1st out Gay person elected to Congress.

Maryland: Democrat Wes Moore will be the 1st Black Governor of that state. Democrat Arana Miller will serve as the 1st Asian Lt. Governor. Her family immigrated to the USA from India. Democrat Anthony Brown will be the 1st Black person elected Attorney General of Maryland. Way to go Maryland !!

Massachusetts: Democrat Maura Healey will be the 1st out, Lesbian Governor in USA history. Her running mate Kim Driscoll will be one of two states to have women serving as Governor and Lt. Governor.

Michigan: Democrat Shri Thanedar will be the 1st Indian-American elected to Congress from that state.

New York: Democrat Kathy Hochul will be the 1st elected Female Governor of that state.

Ohio: Democrat Marcy Kaptur won a 21st term in Congress when she is sworn in next year. She will be the longest-serving woman in House history.

Pennsylvania: Democrat Austin Davis will be the 1st Black Lt. Governor of that state serving alongside newly elected Governor Josh Shapiro. Mr. Davis will be filling in the vacancy left by Lt. Governor John Fetterman when he was elected to serve as Senator. Democrat Summer Lee will be the 1st Black woman elected to Congress from that state.

Vermont: Democrat Becca Balint will be the 1st woman elected to Congress from that state. Because of this fact, Vermont will lose its distinction of being the only state in the USA that never has sent a woman to Congress. Democrat Charity Clark will be the 1st woman elected to be Attorney General in that state as well.

Bravo again to some of the history makers of the 2022 midterm elections. A job well done.
