Welcome To Kansas City, Chef Alonso Navarro!

” I was born and raised in Lima, Peru where I received my education in Hospitality Management at the Peruvian University of Applied Sciences (UPC).

I moved to Fort Lauderdale, Florida in 2016, after I graduated from college.

I started baking 3 years ago, to find some kind of relief for my anxiety. I found out that baking was more than just a ‘fun activity’ for me, but it was therapeutic.

Personally, baking is also a very helpful way to express my feelings, since I am not very good at expressing myself. It’s a way for me to express my feelings as a thank you, appreciation, or sympathy, through baked goods.

Baking is more than just a passion for me, it is kind of a form of therapy. It has helped me a lot with getting to know myself, and it also makes me, and everybody else around me, happy too.”

Chef Alonso Navarro- Owner of Beary Good Bakery.

About 2 years ago, the Supreme Court sided with a Colorado baker who refused to make a wedding cake for a Gay couple based on religious grounds.

With fake ass Christian Evangelicals feeling emboldened to blubber about being discriminated against, we LGBTQs here in the Greater Kansas City Metropolitan area do not have to be distraught over such hullabaloo, mayhem, and foolishness.

On March 31st, Chef Alonso Navarro, owner of Beary Good Bakery moved to Kansas City, Missouri.

Hopefully, I am not speaking out of school. Googling LGBT businesses in Kansas City, I did not come up with any other LGBTQ owned bakeries in the Greater Kansas City Metropolitan area.

Beary Good Bakery is a home-based business. In my opinion, that is a huge plus, the way to go, especially during this COVID-19 bedlam.

Chef Navarro stated. “We are still accepting orders. We are taking extra measures to ensure the safety of everyone. All deliveries will be left at the door, and extra steps are being taken to sanitize the kitchen. Don’t let this virus keep you from celebrating birthdays, holidays, and events. Share a cake, or macarons, with you or loved ones today.”

Chef Navarro further elaborated. “All my recipes can be adjusted to meet special dietary needs.”

Even though you can pick up your cake at his residence, Chef Navarro suggests customers pay the delivery fee. On a couple of occasions, customers have picked up his cakes, but it didn’t arrive at its final destination unscathed. Chef Navarro explained, “I know how to deliver a cake. That’s why I suggested delivery.”

Besides cakes, cupcakes, and cakesicles, Chef Navarro also makes macarons and baked donuts. I had to laugh because I thought he was talking about macaroons.

For those of you like me who have never heard of macarons, Chef Navarro had to school me that they were French pastries that resembles cookie sandwiches. Like his cake products, his macarons and baked donuts come in different flavors.
