“We can disagree and still love each other unless your disagreement is rooted in my oppression, and denial of my humanity, and the right to exist.”

Son of Baldwin Facebook post.

Regardless of what some of you decide what you want to believe, The Birther Movement did not end with President Barak Obama. It has progressed on to Trump’s State Department.

According to the August 29th edition of The Washington Post, some Hispanic American citizens are reportedly being denied their American passports as well as having their existing visas revoked.

Maria Teresa Kumar, President & CEO Voto Latino remarked about the situation. The following were some of her significant remarks.”I think it is part of this administration’s effort to define who is American and who is not. It’s part of a broader narrative he kicked off in his campaign. It feeds into what we are talking about; the mass demographic we’re seeing. This is not only about denying American citizens the possibility of getting citizenship taken away, but we’re also finding cases that they are actually getting deported back to the countries they do not belong to. This is all along a racial line of strategy to basically try to make American Latinos (the 2nd largest population of Americans in this country) become un-American. Americans of all stripes have to stand up and say this is not going to happen on my watch. Every single one of us should be furious. It may end with the Latino community, but I guarantee you 100% that it is not going to end there. Remember, this is the same administration that is trying to pull a temporary protective status close to 300,000 folks that are Latino, African, and Asian descent. We also have to remember there is a Muslim ban that is basically going to go into effect once again. The President is trying to define who is American.”

MSNBC’s Joy Reid said that, according to The Washington Post, in some cases, passport applicants with official U.S. birth certificates are being jailed in immigration detention centers, and entered into deportation proceedings. In other cases, they are stuck in Mexico. Their passports suddenly revoked. When they tried to re-enter the United States.

Another guest on that segment of Joy Reid’s show was MSNBC commentator, Anand Giridharadas. Anand is a former newspaper columnist for the New York Post and the International Herald Tribune. He is the author of the new book entitled, “Winner Take All: The Elite Charade of Changing the World.” A remark that he made gave me a “Hello Lights” moment, was when he declared about Trump: “In my view, he is a pimple on the boil of a diseased body politic. All of our attention is going to that simple, but we have a lot of problems that made him possible from which he emerged. My hope is as we start to see ways his presidency unraveling, or indictments, whatever, we can start to go deeper to understand how we got into this. Trump capitalized on this age where elites like Mark Zuckerberg and others say they are making changes, but they are fake changes, and Trump is the President of Fake Change. We have to learn as citizens to make a real change again in this country.”

As I was listening to Anand’s words, I thought, “Don’t forget those Ultra Right fake ass Christian preachers who embrace Trump and his cult. Those hookers definitely have an agenda. They are modern day Pharisees. Dear Jesus, protect us from your followers.” (laughing)

Near the end of this article, I could not help but think of one of my favorite rock songs when I was a young man of 22. It was “Hymn 43” by Jethro Tull. I think the chorus of that song is as relevant, if not more so today than in 1977 when it first came out.

“If Jesus saves, he better save himself, from the gory, glory seekers who use his name in death.”
