John & Yoko Lennon Were So Right

“Instant karma gonna get you. Gonna knock you off your feet. Better recognize your brother, everyone that you meet. Why in the world are we here? Surely not to live in pain and fear.”

-John Lennon

“Instant Karma”

“Walking on thin ice. I’m paying the price. For throwing the dice in the air.”

– Yoko Ono

“Walking On Thin Ice”

It is Tuesday evening, April 7th, as I am writing this article. I am filled with rage. Thank goodness music and dancing soothe this savage beast. The songs of John Lennon and Yoko Ono are playing in my head, giving me comfort. John Lennon’s immortal song resonates in my mind because I know, in my heart of hearts, karma is coming to the power-hungry thugs in the Republican Party. Yoko Ono’s 1980s era dance club hit, “Walking On Thin Ice” is giving me solace that folks will stop being so complacent, feeling helpless, and recognizing the power they truly have.

Today is the Wisconsin Primary. I can’t help but play these songs in my head. Republicans have hit a new low. I never thought they would pressure American voters to choose between risking their lives and voting. They are that power-hungry. And hateful.

Wisconsin’s Governor Tony Evers, who is a Democrat, ordered that the Wisconsin Primary be postponed as to not put peoples’ lives at risk during this pandemic. Being the brutal, uncaring Republican thugs most of them are, the Wisconsin State Supreme Court ordered Gov. Evers to unblock his order so the Primary will continue today, putting Wisconsin residents’ lives at risk.

I firmly believe in karma and what transpired today was a travesty. Time and time again, I have heard Republicans, especially Meghan McCain, spout their crap about how Democrats are politicizing this pandemic, and to get our country unified. Well, that fake ass plea from them is now moot. I hope American voters nationwide will not forget what elected leaders of the Republican party did and make them pay for their little game. It is time to quit bringing covered dishes to a gunfight. In the words of John Lennon: “Power to the people.”
