Andrew Yang Is My Man For 2020

“Sexual orientation and Gender identity should be protected classes under the law, receiving all the Federal protections afforded under the Constitution and the law.”

We need to reconsider the harshness of our Federal laws, including an investigation into any Civil rights issue raised by the disproportionate amount of minorities convicted of these crimes.”

“Puerto Rico should be a state. They function as one right now without the political rights and bankruptcy protections. If Puerto Ricans looked like Swedes, it would be a state already. We must not only offer them political equality but help them rebuild their economy and infrastructure. It will take time, but that’s what Americans do.”

Last month, Joy Reid Host, of MSNBC’s news program “AM Joy” had a guest on her show that made an astute observation. The lady was a 1970’s era news reporter who covered the Watergate hearings. She stated that people these days do not like to read. As she said that, I couldn’t help but agree with her wholeheartedly.

Time after time, I see and hear folks claim that none of the Democratic 2020 candidates excite them or they have no idea what they stand for. I don’t know why. Folks can easily go to their campaign page to see where they stand on various issues. You can record the various debates and watch them at your leisure so you can make an informed decision.

I’ve decided that I am supporting Andrew Yang to be the Democrat nominee to run against Trump or whoever will be the Republican nominee. Mr. Yang’s idea of bringing Universal Basic Income to the USA has not been taken seriously by the other candidates or some in the media. For example, at one of the earliest debates both Amy Klobuchar and Pete Buttigieg smirked at the idea. Their reactions were so popular that Facebook had a GIF of Mayor Pete saying “It’s original. I’ll give you that.” No, it is not original Mayor Pete.

My political junkie brother, John informed me that the state of Alaska has a form of Universal Basic Income or Freedom Dividend as Mr. Yang calls it. In doing research, Alaska does have it. It is called the Permanent Fund Dividend. Every resident of Alaska is given a tax-free check from oil revenues. Instead of it being given to the government, the money is returned to the residents of Alaska in a yearly dividend check.0. From what I understand, this practice has been established since 1976 under Governor Jay Hammond. Since 1982, yearly tax-free checks have been given to Alaskan residents ranging from about $1000 to over $2000.

A type of Universal Basic Income is practiced in some countries around the world. They are Australia, Belgium, Brazil, Bulgaria, Canada, Czech Republic, Finland, France, Germany, Greece, Hungary, Iceland, India, Iran, Iraq, Ireland, Japan, Macau, Nambia, New Zealand, Norway, Poland, South Korea, Spain, Switzerland, United Kingdom, and in the state of Alaska in the United States.

I understand why the Republican Party of today has not informed us about this. They only care about the rich and powerful, White Supremacy/superiority and huge corporations. I don’t know about you all. No surprise there. But I feel betrayed and lied to by Democrats as well who profess to care and look out for the ordinary middle/low income working person. I guess a lot of Democrats are corporate-minded. Mr. Yang is the only Presidential candidate that has tried to educate our masses about the 4th Industrial Revolution and its effects on us/future generations.

For those of you who may not have heard about the 4th Industrial Revolution like me, in doing research, it is described as the current and developing environment in which disruptive technologies and trends such as robotics, artificial intelligence, and automation are quickly changing the way we work and live. Mr. Yang has made it crystal clear it is NOT immigrants/people of color that are taking the jobs. The Republicans under the “leadership” of Trump has used the “Southern Strategy” to create racial divisions amongst the American populace. As Malcolm X is so noted for saying “You’ve been hoodwinked. You’ve been bamboozled. You’ve been led astray.”

For those of you who profess there isn’t a Democratic candidate that is different, you are talking out of your ass, or you are nothing but a Russian bot or troll.

Andrew Yang is attempting to put more money in our pockets directly instead of continuing to enrich the wealthy with more wealth.

I don’t know about you, but I think our next First Family ought to be “The Yangs.”

Busy fighting fires elsewhere (starting with those within), I haven’t tracked Yang much. (My Mom, a closeted right-winger, in veiled opposition to Dad’s progressive yang, exemplified Yin…) And what a better First Family the Yang’s would be then the Gang of Ex-wives we’ve got today!

But we should also realize that Bernie advocated a form of GBI — as shown in a book published one week AFTER Trump’s election (“Our Revolution: A Future to Believe In” (2016)), and months after Hillary’s nomination, though unfortunately not in his 2016 campaigning: guaranteed employment.

Which echoed Martin Luther King’s *much* earlier call for the very same thing at the difficult Frogmore Island (SC) retreat of civil rights leaders in 1967, worked out further & recorded in his last book, “Where Do We Go from Here: Chaos or Community?” MLK’s GBI would have been based upon our human ambition to do the best work we can (and to be fairly compensated for it), regardless of “market forces.” But nobody read this book (myself included: in my defense, I was 15 at the time, w/o any indie bookstore in my South Dakota community).

Thanks for bringing Citizen Yang to the forefront of my attention, Chuck. You are a blessing to us all.
