THE CHICKENS COMING HOME TO ROOST: THE SEQUEL

“If you are not careful, the newspaper will have you hating the people who are being oppressed, and loving the people who are doing the oppressing.”

Malcolm X

1960’s era Civil Rights activist

“No White Americans ever think that any other race is wholly civilized until he wears the White man’s clothes, eats the White man’s food, speaks the White man’s language, and profess the White man’s religion.”

Booker T Washington

Presidential Advisor 1890-1915

author, educator, orator

One of the best known and controversial remarks made by Civil Rights activist Malcolm X was “chickens coming home to roost.” He made this commonly used idiom when he was questioned about his feeling concerning the assassination of President John F. Kennedy.

Since I am aware that my readership is intergenerational, that expression Malcolm used only meant a person or persons can’t escape the consequences and repercussions of evil deeds done to other people.

Malcolm X, aka El Hajj Malik Shabazz, was a very controversial figure. While he was a courageous advocate for the rights of Black Americans, a large number of Whites saw him as a threat to promoting hatred, because he spoke in harsh terms about crimes against Black Americans. They tried defining him as an unpatriotic rebel. They used the media of the time to twist that common expression to fit their narrative of him and lie to the public.

The other quote I posted was by orator Booker T. Washington. For the past and present indoctrination that racist Whites have forced people of color to endure. For centuries, some Whites have justified their invasion of people of color countries, as ‘colonization,’ they hid it under the auspices of religion (Christianity).

Funny how that works. All of us were raised with the notion that God gave us free will, whether to follow or not. When some Whites ‘colonize’ people of colors’ land, that little fact somehow gets lost in translation, when a person’s main objective is to rule and steal resources.

Recently, since around 2016, I’ve been amused by all the moaning and groaning from racist Whites in America, their imploration is to “Make America White Again,” while in Europe, their observation is “Europe is not looking like Europe anymore.”

It’s the sequel of ‘the chickens coming home to roost. For centuries, people of color endured seizure of their lands because of your vile manifest destiny beliefs. You can’t cry foul. You bought us in America because you were too damn lazy to do your own work. We are here now. This is our country, whether you like it or not. These are the consequences and repercussions you sowed because of the evil you have done. The faces of America and Europe are turning Browner and Blacker. It scares the crap out of you that you are becoming a minority. Why is that? You act like minorities here are treated unfairly and badly.

Another facet, in my opinion, of the chickens coming home to roost: the sequel is Millennials and Generation Z activists realizing the true nature of some of these greedy Baby Boomer politicians paid off by greedy ass Fossil and Fuel industry lobbyists and CEOs to deny climate change exists. The latest of these child activists is Greta Thunberg from Stockholm, Sweden. She is very blunt in calling out the inaction of these corporate devils in action.

I was hoping Greta, and all of the other young activists, do not think all Baby Boomers are jaded, greedy and cowardly, that we don’t care about the future of the Earth, or that we are not concerned about scientists’ “red alert conditions” warnings and what kind of planet we will be leaving for future generations.

The View’s co-host, Joy Behar, had a bitch “clutching his pearls” recently when she remarked that climate change deniers don’t care about their grandchildren. Joy took it to another level, claiming that all they care about was their 401-ks. Fellow co-host Abby Huntsman, who is a Republican, questioned the tactics of Greta Thunberg, but Joy didn’t back down and repeated her belief that they cared more about their 401-ks than their grandkids. That similar thought crossed my mind as well. If the love of their grandkids wouldn’t make them budge what would?
