CHICKENS COMING HOME TO ROOST: THE SEQUEL

“If you can convince the lowest White man that he’s better than the highest Colored man, he won’t notice you’re picking his pocket. Hell, give him somebody to look down on, and he’ll empty his pockets for you.”
President Lyndon B. Johnson
The first time I heard this idiom “the chickens coming home to roost” was from Human Rights activist El Hajj Malik el Shabazz, also known as Malcolm X. He made that remark in regards to the assassination of President John F. Kennedy on November 22nd, 1963. I was 8 years old at the time, so when I heard him say that, I had no idea what he was talking about. I just thought that it was grown folks business. It wasn’t until I was in my mid-teens, that I found out it meant not being able to escape the consequences and repercussions of evil you have done to other people. This time, in the sequel, it will be Trump, Pence, and all the cowardly ass elected Republicans the chickens will come home to roost.
For decades, Conservative Whites have played nut city when people of color have tried, in vain, to make them aware racism was alive and well in the United States. It fell on deaf ears. It was frustrating as hell. For years, Progressives such as myself searched for various ways to help them understand about equality and fairness for all. My frustration ended when a Conservative recently spilled the tea, that it was a game they were playing, pretending not to understand where we were coming from. The game was to frustrate Progressive-minded people. It was a “hello lights” moment for me. It was then that I realized Trump and his enablers were nothing but evil.
Trump zombies, you played yourselves. We know now how you really feel about people of color and other marginalized folks.
I tend to think that we are at the dawning of greatness. With all this new technology and knowledge that has been hidden or brainwashed from the masses, especially with people of color, Conservatives can’t get away with their games of plausible deniability. They have been exposed as greedy, evil, and corrupt. Racism, bigotry, and greed are in their very core.
Republicans are dehumanizing helpless men, women, and children. Jenn Budd, former Senior Border Patrol agent turned activist recently stated, “Trump is the Father of Birtherism. I don’ know what makes people think he’s just going to just stop with this. (concentration camps) The next thing he’s going to do is he is going to start asking EVERYBODY of color to have papers on them.”
Midwin Charles, Civil, and Criminal Attorney recently said, “Cruelty, racism, and fear is the point. Trump does not care about illegal immigration, ICE raids are only happening in Black and Brown neighborhoods. According to the Migration Policy Institute, about 579,000 Europeans are here illegally. Why isn’t Trump going to the neighborhoods they live at? What jobs are they (undocumented immigrants of color) taking? Show me lines of Americans waiting at 2:00 am to pick grapes.”
Democratic pollster Fernand Amandi weighed in. “This is what authoritarianism looks like. No different, unfortunately, from what we’ve seen in other countries that have adopted these types of tactics. The cruelty is the point. They know exactly what they are doing. They are taking a sledgehammer to the credibility of the United States around the world with these images, these detention and concentration camps. They are trying to create a sense of suspended animation among the American public that says it doesn’t matter when it happens. This is the normalization of our process going forward. I think back to 1962 when President Kennedy saw those dogs in Birmingham. He was so concerned about what those images sent a message to not just in the United States, but around the world. He immediately acted and took the issue of civil rights as a moral issue because he understood the implications. What this administration is doing, what this authoritarianism regime is doing, is sending a message to the world. This is how what the United States looks like under a Trump reign.”
The United States of America has no business preaching to other countries about human rights violations, especially while this mango-colored serpent and his regime are in power in Washington DC. With their continuous cruelty against people of color, with other marginalized groups, it will only be a matter of time that in one way or another the chickens will come home to roost again. How that will happen remains to be seen.
