“Why can’t you do it? Why can’t you set your monkey free? Always giving into it. Do you love your monkey or do you love me?”
George Michael

Recently, I was in the mood for comedy instead of horror. I chose the movie “Victor/Victoria” because it has been eons since I last saw that film. The iconic performance of actress Lesley Ann Warren who played a 1930’s era Chicago gangster’s moll named Norma Cassidy had my sides aching from laughing so hard because of her antics.

Right before I watched “Victor/Victoria”, I had been looking at CNN’s news anchor Don Lemon spilling the tea about Christian Leader Jerry Falwell Jr. seeking Trump’s attorney Michael Cohen’s help in burying racy photos of him. Well, Falwell Jr. didn’t seek God’s help in prayer to resolve the monkey on his back, he turned to Trump’s personal fixer. Isn’t that special? Soon afterward, Falwell Jr. endorsed Trump to be the Republican nominee and assisted him to win the election. Isn’t that super special? What could make Falwell Jr. trust in evil to get him out of a jam, instead of praying to God who he is supposed to have faith in that can do all things? Because he trusted evil, Mr. Thang along with his other Right-wing “Christian” ilk has caused the suffering of millions of innocent people; their love of power and money has helped contribute putting that mango colored Beelzebub in the White House.

Well, Conservative Christian soldiers, I don’t believe you are idiots or naive. You WILLINGLY embrace evil. You WILLINGLY embrace the lies. You WILLINGLY endorse xenophobia, You WILLINGLY embrace LGBTQ+ hatred and racism, etc, etc…

It has been said that ‘sunlight is the best disinfectant.’ For decades upon decades, you ignored the cries of people for you to do the right thing. You laugh at the various attempts they endure to implore you to do the right thing. You pretend with your ‘thoughts and prayers’ when tragic situations happen because of you enabling evil. We beg you to wake up like the late singer Teddy Pendergrass sang and find ways for everybody to live in peace, but you have no intention in working to see that happen. You do not have the desire, and sadly you use religion as a plaything to pretend you care.

There’s an old adage I heard in the 1990s that holds as much relevance today as it did back then if not more. It was ‘religion is the last refuge of a scoundrel.’ Conservative Trump Christians, your religion is cognitive dissonance. The gods you serve are feckless ass Republican politicians including Trump. Pence, and McConnell who truly could care less about your welfare. Isn’t it rich? Don’t you just love a farce?

Isn’t it rich that one of the most popular and beloved songs of all time was a man who imagined a world with no religion but believed in the power of the goodness of people in coming together to try to achieve peace and unity? Don’t you love a farce?
